Would funny wedding vows be considered highly inappropriate in a non-traditional wedding?
My wedding is going to be in a non-traditional manner but in a church. I am really excited about the arrangements, and now that when there is barely a week left for the wedding, I am thinking of including funny wedding vows in my wedding, as that’s precisely what I am! Nonetheless, my mom feels that wedding ceremonies need to be serious and funny vows might not work good for serious minded people, however, I want to know if we can have a small session after the toast to read out funny wedding vows! Do you think it would be something really inappropriate? I shall be grateful for some suitable advice from you guys!

Traditional or in a non-traditional way, the answer is simply, no. Funny wedding vows are in vogue now. In most countries, highly hilarious wedding vows are swiftly being accepted by both the traditional, serious minded people and the young generation alike. Besides, as you say, if you are the kind of person who is funny to the core and something like this would be expected of you, then you should just go ahead with it. The reason being you have good chances as any to pull this kind of stunt off. You mother is right, but serious wedding and the related traditional kind of wedding vows is thing of a past now. All the same, since your mother is concerned, it is better to go her way and finish the wedding with as much as seriousness as you could muster, then get on to the funny wagon after the toast. It is not inappropriate at all, as it is something each and every bride and groom wants. A little fun is not going to hurt anyone. Moreover, this is your wedding, so you should do whatever that pleases you and your groom, and once the initial shock passes, the others will certainly enjoy the funny vows as well. However, make certain your funny wedding vows are enjoyable and not improper as that may pull some long faces.
