A student at the prestigious Natal Technikon in Durban, Adele has bagged many design awards including the Most Outstanding Students for Design and Technical Ability at the coveted institute. Her first job was in Cape Town then after marriage she moved to Canada. Here she started her own company that manufactured premium and luxurious knits made from mohair, angora, cashmere, lace, and silk. These knits became very popular for weddings and later around 1991 the designer she moved onto making bridal wear.
Her business expanded to United States where she opened a showroom in 2007. For the U.S., she incorporated sheer fabrics, embroidery, beading work by Zulu artisans, etc into her collection. Next she launched the Eco-couture line catering to the organic fashion market and firmly believes that the green wedding trend is going strong. Her organic bridal collection uses vegetable dyes, hand cut designs, recycled fabrics, organic hemp and silk.
For fall 2009 she designed Lori, a floor length silk gown with a sweeping train in silky white. The gown had a conservative closed neckline with tank sleeves. Tamra is a satiny mermaid cut with a magnetic sweetheart neckline is just right for a causal beach wedding. A plunging V neck with an A line silhouette and an empire waist gives Cassia in satin a fairy tale touch, especially since it has fur and feather details. Gemma with a sleeveless v neck and mermaid cut in silk is a piece for those who love simplicity.
For a more fairy tale extravaganza opt for Pamela, the ivory mermaid cut adorned with sashes, ribbons, organza, silk, and taffeta. Most designs are conventional and have mermaid cuts along with chapel trains. Those who like simple classic cuts should go for Leaf or Dove. Leaf is a strapless floor length piece with sashes, ribbons and a chapel train. Some bohemian designs by her are Essence, Brook, and Sparrow.
